Clarence Town is a small community on the Williams River, north of Newcastle. The town has a pub/hotel, a post office dating to 1880, and a few other historic buildings.
The friendliest people work at the Williams River Cafe.
Built in 1880, the Big ‘OJohnston Bridge is the oldest timber truss bridge in New South Wales. The bridge is a very slender single lane, and the drifts of broken glass on the bridge are likely from truck mirrors not having space to clear the timbers on both sides.
Looking under the bridge, modern reinforcement fittings are visible, as well as modern pylons.
